Wear OS 6 presented: new design and colour themes

A new version of Wear OS has been announced tonight by Google. In Wear OS 6, users can enjoy the new interface that we also saw for smartphones. But more new features and improvements have been presented.

Wear OS 6

Wear OS 6 will feature the new Material 3 Expressive design, which was also presented tonight for smartphones and other Android devices. Google announced this tonight at The Android Show. Thanks to these improvements, your smartwatch's interface looks even sleeker. Google reports giving you the feeling of depth while scrolling with new animations. Using the pinpad and controlling media is also done with Wear OS 6 with gestures and responsive feedback. There are also new transitions and animations adapted to your watch's small screen.

Wear OS 6 thema

Another new feature for Wear OS 6 is support for dynamic colour themes. We already know this from smartphones, but it is now finding its way to smartwatches as well. The theme you choose for your watch face is then carried through to the entire smartwatch interface, so it all becomes one. Google is also bringing new clearer buttons and quick actions that suit the moment. Think of starting a workout or sending a message to your favourite contact.

In the announcement, Google announced that it has been working on improved performance and optimising battery consumption. According to Google, Wear OS 6 has worked on a 10 per cent longer battery life. Wear OS 6 will be released later this year, and first for the Pixel devices. The video below shows the new design, as well as the new interface for the smartwatch.
