Vivo X300 Ultra has been announced
If you love smartphone photography, then the new Vivo X300 Ultra is one to keep an eye on. Officially launched, the device builds on the familiar formula, but with obvious upgrades on the camera front. The brand is a well-known player in several regions, although not officially in the Netherlands. At Mobile World Congress, we shared the Vivo X300 Ultra preview. At the time, the brand indicated that its focus is not on the Netherlands, but it is looking to expand. In 2022, the brand was already briefly active in our country, but that was discontinued.

Photography
The basics remain recognisable, looking at the previous model: you again get a triple camera system with 14mm, 35mm and 85mm lenses. Nevertheless, significant improvements have been made, especially under the bonnet.
The biggest innovation is in the main camera. That now uses a 200-megapixel Sony Lytia 901 sensor nearly 1-inch in size. That's a big step up from the previous generation, with four times the resolution. The 35mm lens also gets a new coating that reduces reflections by 20 per cent and features professional image stabilisation.
The zoom camera has also been updated. The 85mm lens remains 200 megapixels, but uses a new sensor with faster autofocus and better stabilisation. According to Vivo, the autofocus can update up to 60 times per second. However, the aperture is slightly less bright than before. The 50-megapixel wide-angle 14mm lens remains largely the same as in the previous generation.
Also new are accessories such as teleconverters. These allow you to extend the zoom range to 200mm or even 400mm, for example. In addition, a dedicated photography kit is available for extra control while shooting.

Video
On the video front, the manufacturer is also making strides. All cameras feature optical stabilisation and you can film in 4K at 120 frames per second in 10-bit Log. The camera also supports the use of 3D LUTs, allowing you to apply and customise your own colour styles.
That focus on colour is reflected in the new image processing. Using a special True Colour lens and smart algorithms, the X300 Ultra tries to capture colours as accurately as possible. You can then customise those images to your liking, for example for a cinematic or vibrant look.

Specifications
In terms of design, little changes. You get a large 6.82-inch AMOLED screen with high resolution and a refresh rate of up to 144Hz. Interestingly, the camera button on the side has disappeared for a sleeker design.
Under the bonnet is the latest Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor, combined with 12 or 16GB of RAM. The battery is ample at 6600 mAh and supports fast charging, both via cable and wireless.
The Vivo X300 Ultra will first appear in China and then become available worldwide. This makes it the first Ultra from this series to be released internationally as well. The device does appear in Germany. The phone can be ordered from 16 April and will be delivered from 24 April. It will be priced at 1309 euros.
