Sony Xperia 10 VII announced: with new back cover and update policy

Sony has officially announced the Xperia 10 VII. According to the manufacturer, the new mid-end smartphone should offer a new standard in terms of elegance and sophisticated design. We see several fine Sony features, but the device offers even more.

The mid-range segment is expanding with Sony's new mid-ranger. The manufacturer has announced the Sony Xperia 10 VII, opting for a new design for the phone. What immediately stands out is the camera module of the device, which is placed in a bar with the Sony logo engraved in it as well. It gives off a Google Pixel vibe. You can choose from black, white or turquoise colours. Thanks to its 168g weight, the device is nice and light.

The Sony Xperia 10 VII features a 6.1-inch OLED display with Full-HD+ resolution and 120Hz refresh rate. The manufacturer has added a physical shutter button for taking photos, as we saw on the Xperia 1 VII. On top of that, the phone offers 128GB of storage, which can be expanded with a memory card of up to 2TB. Another thing we rarely see on smartphones these days is the 3.5 millimetre jack for a headset; it is still present on the Xperia 10 VII.

For taking photos, the smartphone is equipped with a 50-megapixel main camera, along with a 13-megapixel wide-angle lens. The front camera counts 8 megapixels. Sony ships the Xperia 10 VII with Qualcomm's Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 chipset, along with 8GB of RAM memory. Out of the box, the device runs on Android 15 with its own Xperia UI. The update policy has been aligned with the high-end model. This means the Xperia 10 VII gets six years of security updates and four Android OS upgrades.

Finally, the Sony Xperia 10 VII offers a 5000mAh battery, with support for USB PD charging. The brand does not reveal the charging power. The price of the new phone comes in at 449 euros. Like the flagship, you probably won't come across this model in shops; Sony chooses to only sell the device itself online.
