Android 16 for Xperia 1 VI
More and more devices are being updated with the update to Android 16. This is now also the case for Sony's high-end, released last year. The brand is rolling out Android 16 for the Sony Xperia 1 VI. That phone appeared with Android 14 and was updated to Android 15 last December, so less than a year later it's time for the latest Android version: Android 16. An update to Android 17 is reportedly still in the offing, judging by Sony's plans.
It is a relatively modest update with a size of around 850MB, Tim informs. Expect several minor interface tweaks, bug fixes and optimisations. No major changes have really been made. Sony does, however, provide the Xperia 1 VI with security update October.
The update will be rolled out in phases. So it may take some time until all users see the update coming in. If you are able to download the update, you will get a notification of this on your device.
