Samsung starts supporting AirDrop: quickly exchange files with iPhone

Good news if you regularly swap files between different devices: the Samsung Galaxy S26 series will make it a lot easier. That's because Samsung is adding support for AirDrop within Quick Share, which will soon allow you to share files directly with Ap...

Android and Apple closer together

Samsung is equipping the Galaxy S26 series with a feature that makes file sharing easier. The new feature is incorporated into Quick Share, the Android counterpart of AirDrop. Once you have the update, you can send and receive files to and from iPhones, iPads and other Apple devices. This removes one of the well-known barriers between Android and Apple.

This capability was previously introduced by Google on the Pixel 10 series and later appeared on the Pixel 9. Now Samsung is following with the Galaxy S26, Galaxy S26+ and Galaxy S26 Ultra as the first Galaxy devices with this feature. In the future, support should also come to other Galaxy models.

Phased rollout worldwide

The feature is being rolled out as an update and will first be available in South Korea, followed by other regions such as the US, Europe, Japan and parts of Asia and Latin America. When the update will reach the Netherlands and Belgium is not yet known.

After installation, you can easily enable the feature via your device's settings. There, under connected devices, you will find the option to activate sharing with Apple devices.

Step towards better collaboration

With this update, sharing files between different ecosystems becomes a lot more accessible. Where previously you were dependent on workarounds, you will soon be able to exchange files directly between Android and Apple devices.

Samsung is not the only one taking this step. Other manufacturers, such as Oppo, have also already announced that their devices will get this functionality in the future. With this, the gap between the two platforms seems to be slowly narrowing.
