Samsung Galaxy XR
With the Galaxy XR, you can not only experience entertainment, but also perform your daily tasks. For example, you can plan trips via Google Maps or use Gemini to discover interesting places. While watching YouTube videos, Gemini lets you ask questions about what you see, or request additional information. Last year, Android XR, the operating system, was announced.

One notable feature is the video pass-through mode. This lets you see your surroundings through the headset's cameras. If you see something interesting, you can use your finger to draw a circle around that object and the headset will immediately start a search. This is how the Galaxy XR combines physical interaction with digital information.
Relaxation and creativity
The headset is also geared towards relaxation and creativity. You can stream movies or series in a virtual cinema experience, or watch multiple sports broadcasts simultaneously. Gamers can make use of XR-specific games, with Gemini acting as a smart assistant providing tips while playing.

Samsung is also working with Adobe on Project Pulsar, an XR video editor that lets you edit videos directly in 3D. Thanks to integrated AI technology, you can even convert ordinary 2D photos and videos into 3D, giving existing content a new dimension.
Technical specifications
The Galaxy XR features 27-megapixel displays that ensure high image quality. For connectivity, it supports low-latency WiFi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4, which is important for a smooth wireless experience.
For audio and voice recognition, the device has six microphones that capture both your voice and ambient sounds. Sound output is provided by two two-way speakers with a woofer and tweeter, for balanced sound reproduction.
Availability and price
The Samsung Galaxy XR is available from today in the US and South Korea. The recommended retail price is $1,800. Samsung Netherlands reports that the announcement is specifically for other regions. For now, there are no plans to release the glasses in Europe.
