Sometimes Samsung opts for an Exynos chipset in its high-end models, other times it is a Snapdragon processor. According to new reports, the new Galaxy S26 series will again get an Exynos processor. To be precise; the Exynos 2600.
Exynos 2600 in Galaxy S26?
Although the Galaxy S25 series worldwide came with Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, indications are now surfacing that Samsung may deploy its own Exynos chips again in 2026. According to recent rumours, the Galaxy S26 series would again partly run on an Exynos processor, specifically the Exynos 2600. Reports also circulated last month that Samsung is preparing a return of the Exynos.
These rumours should be approached with caution, but they are in line with earlier speculation that Samsung is looking to re-integrate its own chips into its flagship models. In doing so, Europe would possibly be the only region to receive Exynos-powered variants of the Galaxy S26. This strategy is not new: Europe has been identified as the main market for devices with Exynos processors before, although it remains unclear why Samsung is choosing this.

A possible motivation for this reintroduction lies with the financial setback Samsung suffered with the Exynos 2500. That chip was originally intended for the Galaxy S25 series, but was ultimately not used due to production problems. However, the expected Exynos 2600 would again fall short of Qualcomm's next-generation, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 "Elite 2", which is likely to be used in the other S26 models. According to the same source, the Snapdragon chip will stay ahead of its Exynos counterpart, which may put European users at a disadvantage in terms of performance.
There are no official details about the Galaxy S26 and the possible deployment of the Exynos 2600 at the moment. Until then, it remains to be seen whether Samsung will actually revert to its own chip technology.
