A new high-end smartphone from Samsung has been officially announced. The manufacturer has officially presented the long-awaited Galaxy S25 Edge to the public. At just 5.85 millimetres thick, it is the thinnest smartphone in the S series.
Samsung presents Galaxy S25 Edge
The Samsung Galaxy S25 series is getting a fourth family member. The South Korean manufacturer previously came up with teasers and we even saw the device in the flesh, now the announcement is final. At just 5.85 millimetres thick, the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge is very thin. The thickness of the 'normal' Galaxy S25 comes out at 7.2 millimetres. The side features a titanium frame. On the front is a 6.7-inch AMOLED screen with the new Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2, which should ensure even better screen protection. The S25 Edge is IP68 certified, which means it can withstand water and dust, although there are obviously limitations to this.

Samsung has chosen the Snapdragon 8 Elite for the Galaxy S25 Edge. We previously saw this processor in the other models in the S25 range. Also on board is 12GB of working memory and 256GB/512GB of storage. The phone has a 3900mAh battery, which is fairly modest. But according to Samsung, this shouldn't be a problem, due to economical tuning of hardware and software. Because the device is very thin, it probably wouldn't have fit a large battery inside either. There is WiFi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4.

For photography, the smartphone offers a 200-megapixel main camera, assisted by a 12-megapixel wide-angle lens. A telephoto lens is not present on the device. Interestingly about the main camera, it is the same as the 200MP sensor from the Galaxy S25 Ultra. With this, at least on paper, the Galaxy S25 Edge has a better camera than the S25 and Galaxy S25+. On the front, the phone offers a 12-megapixel selfie camera. In terms of AI, you can have your fun with the various AI features, which we also know from the S25 series. The device gets seven years of updates; both Android OS updates and security updates.

With the new Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge, Samsung mainly targets those looking for a thin, stylish phone without compromising on high-end specifications. For this, however, you will have to dig deep. The device costs 1249 euros. For a hundred euros more, you get the 512GB variant. Throughout the month, though, you can take advantage of the promotional offer, where for the amount of the 256GB version, you get the variant with 256GB of storage. Samsung's smartphone can be ordered directly from Samsung's own Samsung Store, and from Belsimpel. The S25 Edge will be shipped from 30 May.
