Samsung Galaxy S20 FE: over and out with updates

Samsung is no longer rolling out updates for the Samsung Galaxy S20 FE. This is evident from the South Korean manufacturer's updated update summary. The smartphone made its debut five years ago and was a hit for the brand.

No more updates for Galaxy S20 FE

Five years ago, Samsung came out with the Galaxy S20 FE. With it, the Fan Edition smartphone was released as a comeback. And it caught on. The smartphone sold like hot cakes and came with Android 10. At the time, Samsung promised three Android updates and four years of security updates.

However, the Samsung Galaxy S20 FE was updated for even longer, as the device recently received the October 2025 security update, which means it has been kept for five years. As for the Android version, the Galaxy S20 FE still runs on Android 13.

If you own a Samsung Galaxy S20 FE, there is no immediate cause for concern. After all, the phone comes with an up-to-date patch and the average apps still work fine with Android 13. Google Play updates ensure that the device can expect some Android-level improvements in the near future too. In a while, though, it may be advisable to slowly look at a successor. Samsung recently released the Galaxy S25 FE.
