First specs Galaxy A57
From new information from a testing body, we learn more about the new upcoming Galaxy A series smartphone. Samsung is working on the Samsung Galaxy A57, as the successor to the Galaxy A56 released last year. We reviewed that smartphone extensively in the Galaxy A56 review, and while it really is a fine device, there are still areas for improvement. Over the weekend, we published our independent buying recommendation with the 'best smartphones up to 300 euros'. That included the A56, but some competitors offered more for the same price. Will the Samsung Galaxy A57 do better?

Following the information that has come online, we can say that Samsung is not making very exciting changes to the device. The design is expected to be similar to the previous model, and there are no huge differences in terms of specifications either. It is likely that the new model will get a new chipset: presumably Samsung's own Exynos 1680 processor. Samsung would opt for either 8GB or 12GB of working memory.
The size would come out to 161.5 x 76.8 x 6.9 millimetres and a weight of 182 grams. This makes the device a fraction smaller (162.2 x 77.5 x 7.4 millimetres) and 16 grams lighter. The battery capacity is said to come out at 4905 mAh (previously 5000 mAh) and we don't expect any major differences in terms of photography either. There is talk of a 50-megapixel main camera, 12-megapixel wide-angle lens and a 5-megapixel macro lens. The selfie lens also counts 12 megapixels.
Analysing the information further, we see that the Samsung Galaxy A57 will have a slightly smaller screen than the Galaxy A56. This will be a 6.6-inch screen, instead of the 6.7 screen you currently find on the A56. Final details are still some way off. An announcement date is not yet known. Possibly Samsung will focus on its high-end range first; the Galaxy S26 series.
