New foldable with no visible fold?
Foldable smartphones have been around for a while. Interest seems to be growing, but still this form factor has a small market share. A common issue with this kind of device, is the visible fold. Samsung now seems to have found something on that. At the Consumer Electronic Show in Las Vegas, the company showed off a prototype of the new foldable.
According to Sammobile, it is the Galaxy Z Fold 8, but Samsung is not saying anything about it. Thereby, it happens often enough that Samsung shows new technologies at its Display booth, but it takes a while before it is actually implemented. We saw this with Samsung Display at the 2023 MWC, for example, where the idea of the tri-fold was already coming, but that device did not arrive until late last year.

At Samsung's stand, two devices are side by side. On the left you can see the Galaxy Z Fold 7, while on the right lies the new foldable. Although the smartphones are very similar, there is a big difference. Namely, that second model has a foldable screen with no visible fold. With this, Samsung is taking a big step into the world of foldables. It is expected that we will see the return of the screen on the new Samsung. According to rumours, this screen will also be seen in Apple's first foldable. We expect the new devices next year, with the Galaxy Z Fold 8 making its debut around summer.
