Philips Hue at IFA 2025
At technology fair IFA in Berlin, manufacturer Signify has announced improvements to Philips Hue. Not only improvements have been announced worldwide, there are also new products.
Hue Bridge Pro
Including the Hue Bridge Pro. According to the brand, this new bridge should be five times faster and is black in colour. In doing so, the new device can handle 150 lamps and 50 accessories, where the current Hue Bridge is limited to 50 lamps. It can also store more than 500 personalised lighting scenes. A nice addition is that the Hue Bridge Pro can also be connected via WiFi, eliminating the need to plug in a cable.
Through Hue MotionAware, you can also make the Philips Hue lamps serve as a motion sensor, so the lamps automatically turn on when you enter the room. An interesting addition is that they can also give you a notification when they detect motion, allowing you to use them for security as well. According to Signify, it is easy to switch to the new Hue Bridge Pro, which by the way will cost €89.99, as settings can be carried over.

Hue Secure video doorbell
Also new is the Hue Secure Video Doorbell, which records images in 2K quality. As you would expect from a video doorbell, you can talk to someone at the door via the app, and of course get a notification when someone is at the door. If you don't trust the person at the door, you can trigger a loud alarm. Of course, the video doorbell works with Philips Hue and lights can turn on when someone is near the door. Priced at 169.99 euros, you can knock off 59.99 euros for the Smart Chime, or the device that plays the gong and you can plug into the wall socket. Also new is a new 2K camera for 180 euros or a 2K camera with desktop stand for 200 euros.

Philips Hue Essential
To get more people excited about Philios Hue, the manufacturer is introducing the new line of Philips Hue Essential. These have a lower price than the current bulbs and work largely the same. However, you can dim them to a maximum of 2 per cent (instead of 0.2 per cent with the current bulbs) and the colours are slightly simpler than with the other Hue bulbs. Philips Hue Essential consists of E27 bulbs, GU 10 spotlights and LED strips. The price starts at 24.99 euros.
Control via Sonos
Soon, it will be possible to control your lamps with the Sonos speaker in your home. If your Sonos speaker has a microphone, you can turn on the lights with a voice command. At the moment, however, it only works in English and French. It is not known when the Dutch language will be added.
