Oppo Find X9 series is official

Oppo has officially announced the Find X9 series, consisting of two models: the Find X9 and the Find X9 Pro. The devices follow the familiar pattern of the Find X8 series, with a focus on performance, image quality and battery life. First, the two models have been announced for the Chinese market. On 28 October is the global announcement, and then we will hear all about the new smartphones.

Oppo Find X9 Pro

Technical specifications

Both models run on the new MediaTek Dimensity 9500. The chip offers a big leap over its predecessor, with a faster CPU, GPU and more powerful NPU. At the same time, efficiency has been greatly improved. For instance, Oppo promises up to 55 per cent less consumption for the CPU and 42 per cent for the GPU.

The devices have 120Hz OLED displays with a maximum brightness of 3,600 nits in maximum peak mode and can dim to as little as 1 nit in the dark. The ultrasonic fingerprint reader replaces the previous generation's optical sensor and offers faster and more accurate recognition.

Furthermore, both models have a quick button on the side, for example to quickly put the phone on silent or open the torch. The Pro version also has a camera button on the side to launch the camera or zoom in.

Bigger batteries and fast charging

The Oppo Find X9 has a 6.59-inch OLED screen and a 7025mAh battery, a hefty increase of over 1300mAh compared to the X8. That phone was not released in the Netherlands. Charging can be done with 80W wired and 50W wireless, plus 10W reverse charging.

The Find X9 Pro features a 6.78-inch OLED screen and an even larger battery of 7500 mAh, which can be charged via 90W wired. Oppo claims the battery retains at least 80 per cent of its capacity after five years. This battery is also considerably larger than in its predecessor, which we reviewed in the Oppo Find X8 Pro review.

Hasselblad camera

The Find X9 Pro has a 50MP main camera with the new Sony LYT-828 sensor, a larger 1/1.28" format and an f/1.5 lens with optical image stabilisation. The second camera is a 200MP telephoto camera with a 70mm Hasselblad lens and Prism Hybrid OIS. All cameras can record 4K 60fps Dolby Vision videos, with support for up to 4K 120fps on the main and telephoto cameras.

The Find X9 uses the LYT-808 sensor from the previous Pro version (50MP, f/1.6) and adds a 50MP periscope telephoto lens and a 50MP ultra-wide-angle lens. Both devices feature a True Colour Camera with a 9-channel multispectral sensor.

Software and connectivity

The series runs on ColorOS 16, based on Android 16, with promise of five OS updates and six years of security patches. There is integration with Google's Gemini AI, plus internal AI features such as AI Portrait Glow, AI Recorder and AI Mind Space. Uniquely, ColorOS 16 supports native pairing with the Apple Watch. The Find X9 series is water-resistant to IP66, IP68 and IP69 certification.
