OnePlus Buds Pro 3 review: for when you really love your music

OnePlus has released several audio products in the past. The latest addition to this product category is the OnePlus Buds Pro 3. What does this headset have to offer? And what does it offer in terms of quality?

OnePlus Buds Pro 3

Over the summer, OnePlus announced its new OnePlus Buds Pro 3, a set of in-ears aimed at the true music lover. The earbuds are characterised by a premium casing and a sleek design. OnePlus is taking on the likes of Apple with its AirPods and Samsung with its Galaxy Buds. Earbud reviews appear regularly on DroidApp. Recently, for example, the Galaxy Buds 3 review appeared. Now it's time for OnePlus' new set of in-ears. You can read all about the new product in this OnePlus Buds Pro 3 review.

OnePlus Buds Pro 3 ervaringen

The OnePlus Buds Pro 3 offer a dual-driver setup with 11mm woofers and 6mm tweeters. OnePlus has been working on a new dual-DAC system. This has the advantage that the woofer and tweeter are powered separately. Powerful bass and clear treble are things OnePlus further promises with the headset. Finally, there is tuning by Dynaudio and spatial audio for both Android and Apple iOS. These improvements should make the Buds Pro 3 even better.

Sound quality

The OnePlus Buds Pro 3 is musical in every way. A nice warm low complemented by a sharp and crisp midrange and a fine high make these pleasant in-ears to listen to. If you want the best quality, you can still enable the high-definition mode in the settings, with which it uses the LDHC codec. The in-ears manage to isolate outside noise well, ensuring undisturbed listening pleasure.

There are a number of preset equalisers available, with us still finding Balanced the best. The powerful preset shows hardly any difference and the other three presets add more high or low. This makes for a somewhat restless listening experience. Of course, equalisers are also partly personal preference; you can also set the six-band equaliser yourself. The frequency range runs from 62Hz up to 16kHz.

Additional features

OnePlus doesn't just supply the simple OnePlus Buds Pro 3. You also get access to various features. What's funny about these in-ears is that you can also monitor the health of your neck vertebrae via the settings. That means the earphones then monitor your posture. For example, if you look down a lot, then you put significantly more strain on your cervical vertebrae. For that, you can also receive notifications via the OnePlus Health app to do a neck exercise, for example.

Another feature we find on the headset is the Zen Mode Air. This lets you unwind, as this option lets you listen to nature sounds. Here, you can choose from different themes such as summer waves, camping in the countryside and rain in the forest. These options are available in the app.

Battery life

With the Buds Pro 3, OnePlus promises a battery life of 10 hours with ANC off, 6 hours with active noise-cancellation active. Using the case between uses achieves a maximum battery life of 43 hours (ANC off) or 25.5 hours (ANC on). Via the USB-C connection, you can fully charge the case in 70 minutes. If you opt for wireless charging, which is also possible, it will take 2.5 hours. In this, OnePlus' set scores on par with its competitors. You remain limited by the size, of course.
