New plans for Nova Launcher
Were you disappointed that it seemed over and done with for Nova Launcher? Then now there is mostly good news. A new owner behind Nova Launcher, called Instabridge, shares plans to develop the popular and much-loved launcher for Android. In late 2025, it seemed that the owner at the time did not want to put much energy into the launcher. The founder and creator of Nova Launcher left and the future became unclear. InstaBridge therefore wants to change tack.

The company plans to continue maintaining Nova Launcher. Not only with that, the new owner wants to continue, but the company also wants to put energy into further developing the launcher. It remains to be seen whether InstaBridge will make the new version open-source. This was a wish of the founder, but former owner Branch did not go along with this. However, the new owner is reportedly looking into this. It also stresses that no user data will be shared, although new trackers can be found in the latest version. These would be needed to function better and the company says it is transparent about this.
To fund the development of Nova Launcher, several options are reportedly being looked at. Advertisements in the free version of the launcher are being considered. A paid version would also be looked at. For those who have previously purchased Nova Prime, nothing will change. Thus, no ads will appear with them and Prime features will also remain available for this group of users.
