Netflix arrives with completely new design, chatbot and TikTok-like video's

A new design is coming to Netflix. The streaming service is getting a revamped app, new app for television and more new features. Indeed, the service is also coming with TikTok-like video’s and a chatbot is also ready for users.

New features and design for Netflix

Netflix is one of the best-known and most popular video services for the Netherlands. The streaming service has now announced a lot of changes to the platform. We put down the changes Netflix has worked out for you below.

Television

Netflix has announced a revamped TV experience that is simpler, more intuitive and user-friendly. According to Chief Product Officer Eunice Kim, the basics of the familiar Netflix experience remain the same, but better. The new interface is designed to help members find something fun to watch faster and easier.

A key goal of the redesign is to better support Netflix's broad entertainment offering. The homepage has been redesigned and now shows more clearly which titles stand out, with mentions such as 'Emmy Award winner' or 'Number 1 in TV shows'. This allows viewers to more quickly make a choice that matches their preferences.

Navigation has also been addressed. Where previously shortcuts such as 'Search' and 'My List' were hidden on the side, they have now been moved to the top of the screen for better visibility and faster access. In addition, the recommendations on the homepage are now adapted to the user's mood and interests at that moment.

Mobile

Not only on TV, but also on mobile, Netflix is working on improvements. For instance, the company is testing a new search function on iOS, using generative AI. In it, users can search with natural phrases, such as "I want something funny and cheerful." There will also be a vertical video feed with clips from series and films. The effect of this is similar to how you scroll through Instagram and TikTok. This feed allows you to quickly discover something new, add it to 'My List' or share it with others. Netflix makes no mention of Android, so where it stands on that is unknown.
