Instagram Plus is being tested: paid extras for your Stories

Do you use Instagram regularly and often post Stories? Then chances are Meta’s latest test will pique your interest. This is because the company is experimenting with a paid subscription: Instagram Plus.

Instagram Plus

With Instagram Plus, you mainly get extra features around Stories. For example, you can set multiple audiences, allowing you to share your stories in a more targeted way. You also get more insight into how your Stories are viewed, for instance how often someone revisits your story.

You can also keep your Stories visible for longer. Normally they disappear after 24 hours, but with the subscription you can double that period. You can also draw extra attention to a Story via a 'spotlight' feature, so that it is seen more often.

Interestingly, Instagram Plus also lets you view Stories anonymously. The creator will then not see that you watched. Furthermore, you can more easily search through your viewer list and even send 'super hearts' to show extra appreciation.

These features seem especially interesting for people who are actively working on reach and visibility, such as influencers or content creators. Meta itself says it wants to use this test to discover which premium features users really find valuable.

In any case, it is clear that Meta is looking further into paid options within its apps. Earlier, the company indicated it was working on multi-platform subscriptions. Instagram Plus, incidentally, is separate from existing services such as Meta Verified.

The new service is currently being tested in a number of countries, including Japan, Mexico and the Philippines. There, you will pay about $1 to $2 per month, converted. During the testing period, you can try the first month for free. If and when Instagram Plus will come to other countries is not yet known. It is also unclear whether the features will remain the same in the future or be tweaked further
