Google starts rollout of Gemini for Android Auto

You will already find the Google Assistant in Android Auto, but it will make way for AI tool Gemini. Google has started rolling out Gemini for Android Auto, but it may take some time before everyone can use the functionality.

Google has confirmed that it has started making Gemini available for Android Auto. It will take some time before everyone can use it, though, as Google says the rollout will take several months. First, the functionality will become available to those who have switched from Google Assistant to Gemini on their phones. There will be support for 45 languages.

Gemini can be used for a variety of things. For instance, you can easily add waypoints to navigation on Google Maps. Furthermore, you can get recommendations for locations, ask follow-up questions and generate playlists for Spotify or YouTube Music. Furthermore, the service includes the fine improvement that spoken text, like when sending text messages, the voice sounds more natural.

In Gemini for Android Auto, there is support for extensions. This makes it possible to use AI even further. Among other things, this makes it possible to find the address of a hotel reservation in your Gmail inbox. Gemini Live is also present, offering support for having natural conversations while on the move. You can use this to find out more about your destination, or just to brainstorm ideas. Of course, asking questions is also among the options.

When you can use Gemini for Android Auto, a pop-up will appear on the screen that you are over on Gemini. You can also use the familiar command 'Hey Google'. Then, when the text 'Ask Gemini' appears at the bottom of the screen, you will know you have switched.
