Google Play system update October 2025: this is new

Every month, Google releases a new security update, but a Google Play system update is also on the cards every month. With October's new Google Play update, several improvements are readied for Android. What does this new update bring?

October's Google Play update

In our DroidApp Update Guide, we listed, which types of updates you can expect on your Android device. In it, we also mentioned the Google Play system update. A new version of this update is now ready, and it will start rolling out for various Android devices in the coming weeks. This may take some time, by the way.

In the changelog of the October Google Play system update, we see several improvements. Including tweaks to the Phone app in particular. This gets several small improvements that should make the application a bit better again. Furthermore, we see changed icons in some Google Play Protect notifications. Google Maps gets a (server-side) update every fortnight with improvements and bug fixes.
