Google Photos gets new options: editing by voice or text

The way you edit your photos’s could change with an update to Google Photos’s. You no longer have to work with sliders and tools yourself, just say what you want with an image. For this, you use your voice, or make use of text input.

Google Photos: edit image with your voice

Google has announced new AI tools for its Photos app. It should make photo editing easier and more accessible. All you have to do to do so is use your voice, or enter it as text. You can ask the app to make certain adjustments thanks to AI.

Google Photos gets a revamped editor. It was already possible to get AI-guided suggestions, but now you can also ask for edits. So you can directly indicate what you want to change about the photo. Think of voice commands like "remove the cars in the background" or "restore this old photo". Thereby, it is also possible to give multiple actions in one command, such as "remove the reflections and improve the colours".

Because the editor understands the command, it chooses the tools needed for the final result. In fact, the tool does that itself. Another option in Google Photos is that you can put a creative spin on it. For instance, you can choose to customise the background, or add accessories to the main subject of a photo. Google further reports that you can also ask the app for suggestions or make a photo better.

First to become available for the Google Pixel 10 series, these new phones were announced this week. By the way, photos can be labelled, so you can see which images have used AI. Good to know is that Google stressed that the feature will be available first in the United States. It is not known when other models and countries will follow.
