Google has presented a new feature for the Google Phone app. Users can use Calling Cards. This allows you to create a kind of business card for your contacts. The functionality works differently from Apple.
Calling Cards in Google Phone app
Google introduces new Calling Cards that you can use on Android. The feature allows you to create business cards for your contacts. This means that instead of just choosing a default profile picture for a contact, you can complement the screen with images and text, for example. To spice this up, you can choose a colour for the contact's name, for example. Also, you can choose an image from the gallery, Google Photos, or to take a picture with the camera.

What is striking is that Google takes a different approach from Apple. With Apple's Contact Posters on the iPhone, you design your own card, which others then get to see. In Android, it works exactly the other way round: you can customise others' cards, but you have no control over how your own Calling Card looks to them. This means you have complete control over how contacts appear in your list.

The integration into the Google Phone app makes the feature practical. From now on, when you call someone, you will see the Calling Card you set up for that person. Moreover, a special field has been added in the app's settings where you can see which contacts already have a Calling Card. Since Calling Cards are synced with your Google account, they also appear automatically on your other devices. This makes managing your contacts clearer and more consistent.
At the moment, the feature is still available on a limited basis. Step by step, it will be rolled out to beta users first.
