Google Maps rolls out limited view
When looking for a route or reviews of a location, chances are you consult Google Maps to do so. The service not only comes as a default navigation app on your Android device; the desktop version also lends itself perfectly to looking up information. Chances are you are probably already logged in, but for non-logged-in users, a 'Restricted View' is displayed. This is new and pops up if you are not logged in with your Google account.

Google Maps logged out (left) and logged in (right)
When you see the 'Restricted view', a pop-up will appear in your screen informing you about it. The description states that there are several reasons why you see the restricted view. This could be because Google Maps might be having problems, unusual traffic might have been observed from your computer or network, or you might be using a browser extension, which interferes with Maps' operation. Below is actually "the real" reason. There it reads "If you log in to Google Maps, you may no longer see this limited functionality".

The restaurant view left logged in, right logged out
The restricted view shows less information. For example, the overview of hotels and places to stay is missing, as is the overview of photos in the quick sidebar. What else is missing varies a little per location. In some cases, certain locations are missing at a glance, such as restaurants, hotels or facilities, which you can see immediately when logged in. With restaurants, for instance, a lot of information is also missing. Think of the average price per person, the menu and even the reviews. These do pop up when you log in.
