Google Maps comes with special battery saving mode while navigating

A new option is on the way to Google Maps. New indications suggest that the company is working on a new battery-saving mode for when navigating. The feature will work independently of the smartphone's power saving mode.

For many, Google Maps is an app that is indispensable. It is also an application that is packed with features and functions. A new feature is now on the way, it has been discovered in the test version of the maps service. It is an option where you can activate energy-saving mode. You activate this by pressing the phone's power button.

With the feature enabled, the information on the screen is shown monochrome and it is also very minimalist in terms of information. Street names and the like are omitted, as is the instruction for the next action. What you see is the arrow for navigation, expected arrival time, remaining time and arrival time.

Initial information shows that there is support for car navigation, as well as directions for cycling and walking. It is unclear whether it also works with public transport.

The feature is still under development and is not yet available to the general public.
