You can use Gemini for free, but if you want to get more out of it, you can get additional features through a monthly subscription. Google has now announced a new subscription model; Gemini Ultra.
Gemini Ultra announced
With the launch of Google AI Ultra, the tech company is marketing a subscription model for professionals and intensive users. For $250 a month, Google offers a package aimed at those who want to get the most out of their AI experience. The subscription is only available in the US for now, with plans to expand globally later. New US users will temporarily receive a 50 per cent discount for the first three months.
The announcement took place during Google I/O 2025, where Google AI Ultra was showcased as the most comprehensive subscription to date. The service is specifically designed for developers, filmmakers, academics and creative professionals, among others.
At the core of the subscription is access to the most powerful versions of Gemini, Google's AI platform. Ultra subscribers get higher usage limits for Deep Research and the advanced video generation with Veo 2, among others. In addition, access to the new Veo 3 model and Deep Think in 2.5 Pro, which promises improved reasoning capabilities, will be granted in the coming weeks.

A key part of the package is Flow, an AI tool developed by Google DeepMind. Flow supports users in creating cinematic productions with tools for 1080p video generation, camera control and narrative coherence. In addition, Whisk offers the ability to flesh out ideas visually, including Whisk Animate, which allows users to turn static images into short videos.
For education and research, Ultra offers extensive access to NotebookLM, with integration with familiar Google products such as Gmail, Docs and Chrome making it possible to use Gemini during daily work. A notable addition is Project Mariner, an experimental dashboard that allows users to manage up to ten complex tasks in parallel - from information gathering to bookings. Besides AI-focused features, the Ultra subscription also includes practical extras: an individual YouTube Premium subscription and 30 terabytes of storage for Google Photos, Drive and Gmail.
