Google Chrome update brings Material 3 Expressive design

A new update for Google Chrome is available. Via a server-side update, the browser on Android features the new Material 3 Expressive design. This makes the browser a lot more modern again.

The biggest news from Android 16 is Material 3 Expressive. Still, we will have to wait a while until we actually start seeing this in Android. However, we do see the new interface in more and more of Google's apps. For instance, we saw Material 3 in Google Calendar and Gmail has also been updated with the new design. So next in line is Google Chrome. The Android version gets a new lick of paint in several areas.

Every Android user seems to get the new design without having to visit the Google Play Store. In fact, it is activated via a server-side update. Earlier, the design was tested in test versions of Chrome, but so now it is available in the stable version.

You will find the new Material 3 Expressive design in several places. For instance, the indicator bar under the address bar has been addressed, you see revamped icons and we also see more rounded corners. The icons in the menu have been placed in circles and the tabbed overview has also been updated.

As mentioned, most Android users have seen the change by now. If you don't see the new design yet; then waiting can pay off. Possibly closing the app and restarting it can sometimes help.
