Android 17 is on the way
Google has revealed that 'soon' it will start distributing the Android 17 Beta. Not entirely surprisingly, this is not immediate, but the company is also still developing Android 16 further, with a small update to QPR3 Beta 2.1 appearing on Wednesday, after Android QPR3 Beta 3 was released earlier this month. The stable version is expected in the coming weeks/months. Screenshots leaked earlier.

Users who participate in the beta programme of Android 16 will automatically move to the testing programme of Android 17, according to Google's announcement. This will start at Android 17 Beta 1. It is not possible to leave the programme without deleting data, until the end of the Android 17 Beta cycle in June 2026. This text suggests that the beta programme will start in June this year. Android 16 became available as a Developer Preview in November 2024. Android 17 will also start with Developer Preview versions first.
Google has not yet given a clear date.
