More Gemini in Gmail
In Gmail, you already get to see Gemini in various places, but now several enhancements and improvements are coming to the mail service. According to Google, this will change emailing for more than three billion daily users. Thanks to these improvements in Gemini, your inbox should become not just a place to read mails, but a smart workspace that lets you keep an overview and respond faster.
One of the main innovations is the AI Inbox. Besides the classic inbox, you can choose a new view in which Gmail actively thinks with you. 'Suggested to-dos' shows you emails where action is expected from you, while 'Catch me up' summarises important events such as upcoming trips, bookings, sports lessons, purchase confirmations and returns. This feature is rolling out today for Trusted Testers.
Search in Gmail is also getting an upgrade with AI Overviews. Instead of separate search results, simply describe what you are looking for in the search bar. Gmail will then create an overview based on information from your own inbox. This way, you can find what you need faster, without scrolling endlessly. This feature will be available to G1 Ultra and Pro subscribers first.
With Proofread, Gmail is also introducing a new way to improve your emails. The AI helps you with grammar, word choice and conciseness, and can rewrite sentences for a clearer style, for example by making passive sentences active. This feature is also being rolled out first to G1 Ultra and Pro subscribers.
Google is also making some popular AI features available to everyone for free from now on. Suggested Replies become more personal and use the context of the conversation to generate responses that match your tone and writing style. You can always edit these responses before sending them.

In addition, AI Overviews appear as summaries at the top of e-mail threads when convenient, for example in long conversations with many responses. Finally, Help Me Write lets you have a first draft of an email created with one short prompt, which is especially useful if you want to get started quickly.
All new features are initially available for English-speaking users in the United States. Google indicates that more languages and regions will follow later. When the rest will follow then, that has not been disclosed.
