Samsung released the requisite smartphones in 2010. One of them is the Samsung Galaxy i5550 Europa, or the Galaxy Europa for short. We discuss the phone that was released with the necessary names today in ‘The forgotten smartphone’.
Samsung Galaxy Europe
Not immediate memories when you see the name 'Samsung Galaxy Europe'? You're probably not the only one. The manufacturer released a device with the model number i5550 in 2010. That device was released with the names Galaxy Europa/Europe. Yet the device was named differently in some other countries. The names Galaxy 5, Galaxy 550, Samsung Corby Smartphone and Samsung Corby Android were also used. The phone got its debut in June 2010. It was one of the many Android devices released by Samsung in the Galaxy series.

The device had a 2.8-inch TFT display with a resolution of 320 x 240 pixels. The manufacturer equipped the device with a single-core processor with a processing power of around 600 MHz. There was 170MB of storage and you could expand this with a memory card. Samsung offered the phone with Android 2.1 Eclair, with an update later appearing to Android 2.2 Froyo. The TouchWiz 3.0 interface was also found on the phone. The keyboard offered Swype, a feature you may or may not have been lying on. Photos could be taken with the 2.0 megapixel camera. A front-facing camera was to be missed.
On board was a 1200 mAh battery, which was swappable. Something that was quite normal at the time, but which you hardly see nowadays. By the way, did you know that you can only use the hotspot function since the update to Android 2.2? Before that, this feature was not built into Android. WiFi and Bluetooth were of course standard.
There were downsides to the device too. For instance, like many devices back then, it lacked multitouch support. As a result, zooming on the screen was not possible with two fingers and a pinch. The camera, too, was not praised very much.
Samsung Galaxy Europe summarised in 3 points:
