OnePlus X
At the end of October in 2015, OnePlus came out with the announcement of the OnePlus X. That phone appeared three months after the release of the OnePlus 3, the manufacturer's top device at the time. With the OnePlus X, the brand was keen to release an interesting device in the more affordable segment. The brand released the phone at €269. Originally, the phone was available by invitation only. In January 2016, that restriction went away and the device was widely available.

The OnePlus X became available in different designs, with a glass back and an aluminium frame. Here you could choose from a black or white colour, as well as a ceramic version, which appeared as a limited edition. Of these, 10,000 were released. The smartphone was positively received by the public, due to its high-quality design. Many also felt that the device had an elegant design. Especially with the ceramic version, this was appreciated. This one also took longer in the manufacturing process; according to OnePlus, it took 25 days.

The alert-slider familiar from several OnePlus devices was also seen on the OnePlus X. The manufacturer equipped the device with a 5.0-inch AMOLED screen with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. Beneath this screen were so-called touch-sensitive buttons to perform actions. The smartphone appeared with Android 5.1.1 Lollipop that already had the OxygenOS skin over it at the time. Later, the device was updated to Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow.

OnePlus provided the OnePlus X with 3GB of RAM and 16GB of storage. You could expand this with a memory card of up to 128GB. NFC was not found on the device. On board was the Snapdragon 801 chipset, a quad-core processor from Qualcomm. There was a 2525 mAh battery and photos were taken with the 13-megapixel or 8-megapixel front camera. So back then, there was no whole presentation of multiple lenses such as telephoto and wide-angle lenses.
In 2016, OnePlus announced that it was discontinuing the OnePlus X and that there would be no successor. According to Pete Lau, the brand's CEO, it did not achieve the expected results.
