With the XpressMusic series, Nokia released interesting phones for the true music lover. We have covered several handsets from this series in the past. Think of the Nokia 5130 XpressMusic and, of course, the high-end Nokia 5800 XpressMusic. This time, we highlight the Nokia 5700 XpressMusic. Released in spring 2007, the device stood out for its so-called "swivel" design. And we know that design from an earlier device; the Nokia 3250 that was launched two years earlier.

It wasn't just any design though; you could rotate the part below the screen. So you had physical keys for the music player, but you could use a twist to get the keys in front of you. It was also possible to rotate it halfway, with which the phone stayed put and you could watch a movie on it, for example. Extra noticeable: the phone's camera was also in this section, and thus sat on the side of the Nokia 5700 XpressMusic. If you rotated the bottom section for 90 degrees, the camera would automatically launch.

Nokia equipped the 5700 XpressMusic with a 2.2-inch display with a resolution of 320 x 240 pixels. The phone offered support for GPRS and UMTS and had Bluetooth and an infrared port. Listening to music could of course be done with the music you had stored on the internal memory via Nokia PC Suite, or via the FM radio.

For taking photos, you could use the 2 megapixel camera. Nokia equipped the device with Symbian with S60. Besides the few tens of MBs of storage, the memory could be expanded with a memory card. The price came out at between 350 and 400 euros.

Nokia 5700 XpressMusic summarised in 3 points:

  • Swivel element
  • Side-facing camera
  • Symbian S60
