Duolingo makes chess lessons available to all

Whereas previously you could only use Duolingo to learn a new language, today you can use the app for more and more things. After maths, you can now get into chess. Earlier, chess lessons were announced as an expansion.

Chess lessons in Duolingo

Duolingo users can get started with chess lessons in the app from today. The app was originally designed to learn a new language, but over time its functionality has expanded. For instance, it is already possible to work on your maths and maths exercises, or on learning musical notes via Duolingo. Another new feature now added is chess lessons. The functionality was announced back in May this year, but so it took a while until Android users could get started with it.

The chess lessons provide step-by-step instructions on how the game works. Here, you can choose whether you want to get in on the first lesson, or get in later. Useful, if you have already mastered chess a little. With a short introductory lesson, you can also have Duolingo check which level is best for you to start from.

You get to learn the most diverse aspects of chess. For example, you will learn how to checkmate the king in a corner, but you will also learn the basics such as the movements of a knight. Oscar, a character from Duolingo, will help you with the lessons.

When you can learn to play chess in Duolingo, you will get a hint of this in the Duolingo app.
