ColorOS 16 announced

A new version of ColorOS is official, Oppo's own skin. The manufacturer has just announced ColorOS 16, and with it the brand has worked on several new features and capabilities. In doing so, the brand promises that, above all, it should all work a lot faster. Thanks to Seamless Animation, transitions between apps, widgets and menus should blend seamlessly, which you will notice while quickly opening and closing apps, but also while multitasking. The phone uses different techniques to do this, without impacting battery consumption. Entry-level phones with less powerful hardware get a feature called 'Project Breeze', which makes the interface smoother.

ColorOS 16

Oppo has refined the design of ColorOS 16 with natural colour transitions and lighting effects reminiscent of light and shadow in nature, the brand says. You can now set videos or moving photos as wallpapers, or use AI to match fonts and styles to your wallpaper.

The Always-On Display also gets an update. You can now choose a full-screen Always On Display, with a smooth transition to the lock screen. The Flux Home Screen also allows you to customise the shape of app icons and folders, while the rest of your home screen adjusts automatically.

AI

ColorOS 16 further enhances Oppo's AI features with AI Portrait Glow, which improves portraits in poor lighting by making skin tones more natural. Along with tools like AI Eraser, AI Unblur and AI Reflection Remover, you can quickly optimise photos with a single tap. The video editor got an upgrade with Master Cut, which lets you easily crop, speed up, edit or add filters and music to clips.

ColorOS 16 AI Glow

Oppo also announced a new version of O+ Connect, which lets you connect Windows PCs in addition to Mac. That way, you can manage files, view your smartphone screen on your PC, or control your PC from your smartphone. The 'Screen Mirroring' option allows you to control up to five apps simultaneously with a mouse and keyboard.

The Oppo Find X9 series will be the first series to be offered the new update from Oppo. It will be announced on 28 October. The manufacturer will then make ColorOS 16 available for more smartphones.
