'Galaxy S26 series announcement date leaked: later than usual'

New information is in about the Samsung Galaxy S26 series. The news that is now known is about the announcement date of the new series. Interestingly, we will have to wait longer for the Galaxy S26 series.

Galaxy S26 series arrives on this date

In past years, Samsung announced its new Galaxy S smartphone in January. With this, the South Korean manufacturer was all set for the new year. In several years before, Samsung regularly chose to present its devices in February or March, during or around Mobile World Congress. Now there are new reports about when Samsung will present the new Galaxy S26 series; and it will be later than in previous years.

According to the latest reports, Samsung has set a date for this to happen. The new date for Galaxy Unpacked is 25 February 2026. The last time Samsung announced a Galaxy S smartphone in late February was with the Galaxy S9 series in 2018, which was then (also) on 25 February.

Reports had previously circulated that Samsung would delay the release of the new smartphone series. This would be due to the different naming scheme and the scrapping of the Galaxy S26 Edge. In terms of naming, the base model would no longer be called Galaxy S26, but go through life as Galaxy S26 Pro. However, it would now still seem that Samsung is leaving the S26 series out of the familiar names, and so we will start seeing a Galaxy S26, Galaxy S26+ and a Galaxy S26 Ultra.

The reason for the delay in the release is said to be due to the adjustment of the product range. Samsung is not expected to also announce the Galaxy S26 Edge during that edition of Galaxy Unpacked. Although rumours recently circulated that the device would be cancelled, there are now signs again that Samsung would release a successor to the unsuccessful Galaxy S25 Edge after all. The new Galaxy S26 series would run on the new Exynos 2600 chipset, including the Ultra model.
