Android is a comprehensive and giant operating system for your smartphone or tablet. Manufacturers then add their own features and functions. But could it all be a bit faster? Then speed up your animations with this handy Android tip.
Accelerating animations
Your Android device is packed with features and functions. Add to that the many features from the Google Play Store; and you'll pass the time. And maybe you recognise it; your phone doesn't always feel as fast. That doesn't always have to do with the storage space, which is nicely filled with cat photos, apps and other files. Manufacturers can also make Android prettier, for example by using animations.

Animations you see, for example, when you switch between apps, or between screens. These look nice, but can cause your device to slow down (a little). By speeding them up or turning them off, your device immediately feels a whole lot faster. This without having to uninstall applications, or sweep through your gallery. How to do this, we explain below.

To speed up or disable animations, you need to go to the developer settings. This sounds tougher than it is, and adjusting this setting can't really go wrong. Follow the steps below to get started with this.
- Go to your phone (or tablet) settings.
- Scroll to 'About the phone'. On some brands, this is called differently, such as OnePlus; 'About device'.
- Choose the software version, or in the case of OnePlus, for example, 'Version number' under 'Version'.
- Next, the developer settings will be added to the settings overview. Go back one step and find it in the settings list.
- You can find the settings for this under 'System and updates' or using the settings search bar, under Developer options.
- Then scroll to three options; window animation scale, transition animation scale and animation duration scale.
- By default, these are set to 1x, but you can set them to 0.5 to speed up. Another option is to turn off the animations. You'll see that your phone feels lightning fast!
