A major update to Android 16 will be released later this year. Before that happens, Google is testing various improvements and new features with test versions. A new test version has now been announced by the brand. Android 16 QPR2 Beta 2 is a new beta version that brings new features to Pixel models. Among other things, on the personalisation front, users get more options. Through the 'Background and style' section, you can now set theme icons. Here, you can also choose from new shapes.

Furthermore, Google has added a built-in pedometer. The data collected with this will be stored in Health Connect. Different apps can be synced with this, and so you no longer have to work with different apps and services. In Android 16 QPR2 Beta 2, besides steps, things like altitude, speed and distance travelled are also stored.

The interface has been tweaked in several places, for instance, the Security & Privacy section has been given the Material 3 Expressive sauce. Other than that, improvements have mostly been done behind the scenes. The update is now being distributed to Pixel users who are part of the beta programme.
